Lumora Treks is an expert-guided trekking company founded in 2026. We run three core routes — Everest Base Camp, Annapurna Sanctuary, Langtang Valley — and we keep groups small by default, because at altitude a guide who knows your pace by Day 2 is worth more than a long brochure.
Most trekking companies in Kathmandu are good. A few are excellent. Many sell the same three routes with the same brochure copy, the same generic itinerary printed by a different agency. The result is that prospective trekkers spend weeks comparing pages that all say the same thing.
Lumora is built on a simple promise: we publish what we actually do. Every day's distance, elevation gain, sleeping altitude, included permit, and operational caveat is written down before you book — and is what you experience on the trail. If a Lukla flight is cancelled, we tell you the buffer-day plan in advance. If you ask whether AMS is likely on a given day, you get the actual statistics from our last four seasons.
Most departures run with 2–8 trekkers — small enough that the guide knows your pace by Day 2. Larger private groups, families, and corporate retreats welcome; we scale staffing to match.
Lead guides are licensed by the Government of Nepal and certified in wilderness first aid. We employ Sherpa, Tamang, and Gurung guides depending on the route.
Porters carry up to 15 kg, are insured, equipped, and paid 35% above the porter-union baseline. We do not subcontract.
Permits, internal flights, teahouse stays, ground transport, guide and porter wages, airport transfers — included. The only extras are tips and travel insurance.
We don't list on Viator or GetYourGuide. Direct bookings keep the price honest and the line of communication open through to your guide.
Every trekker, every morning, above 3,500 m. Emergency oxygen carried above 4,500 m. Helicopter evacuation insurance required.
